Merry Merry CHRISTmas

What an amazing birthday party we had for Jesus this year. We had so much fun. I had a really rough start trying to get ready. Christmas just popped up on me this year and the week before I had NO shopping done. After all my panicing and help from my mom and dad I finally began to get excited and prepared.
We began the Celebration in Columbus where we had Gertson Christmas. The boys had so much fun with their cousin Jenson. They ran around, played with their new toys(a train and hunting set), ate M&Ms and laughed a whole lot.
Next was Barnhill Christmas on Christmas Eve. Wow! What a great day. Mom made a hugh and terrific prime rib. They boys love their Mason and Cami and enjoyed opening their gifts with them. They got a cool tent and train sets alone with many, many other things.

Christmas morning santa came to the Gertson household and boy was he generous. Conner could believe that santa ate the cookie he left. Santa brought the boys a playhouse, fishing game, and stockings full of goodies.
After that we loaded up and head to Garwood to Nana's and Papa's house. The food was great. Nana BBQed all morning. Conner was so funny because he kept asking everyone the "Come On, Lets open gifts." It was cute because he really GOT the gift thing this year. The boys got a great music set, a hugh T Rex, a vaccum, and a GATOR!! they love it.
We had a great Christmas and are so blessed to be healthy and happy.

The past 12 days have been gloomy around the Gertson household. Momma has been sick. Regardless to say we have been hanging around the house. Now the boys have the cold. Yea:(
It is fixing to get really crazy around here. Not only do we have Christmas and New Year but we also have many birthdays in the family. Our Papa turned 87 on the 3rd, Kris will be 30 on the 13th, Cindy will be 20 on the 18th, I will be 29 on the 31st and Taylor turns a year older Jan. 2. Ready Set Here We Go!
Taking Christmas card pics this year has been to say the least challenging. Getting a one year old and a two year old to look and smile at the same time is moutain moving. I finally gave up after about 20 tries. Here are a few that didnt make the cut.

Fishing

This weekend was a blast. Kris hunted for his monster buck sat. while the boys and I hung out. Sunday we went to church and heard a great sermon on Heaven and then we took Conner and Kyle fishing for the first time. Some good friends of our just dug a big pond in their back pasture and stocked it with fish. They invited us over for a fish fry and to fish. Conner was so excited and talked about it all day. Kyle mostly played with the minows, but Conner fished hard. After all fish had been caught(hee hee) we went inside and ate great fish fried by David. It was a great time.

Kyle's one year check up

Today I took Kyle to see dr. Nordtman for his 1 year check up. I am still in amazement that a year has come and gone. He did great. One of my very least favorite things to do is give my babies shots. Not only am I scared of them because of the autism debate, but by golly it hurts. He was a trooper though and only cried for a few minutes. That afternoon I changed his car seat to a big boy one that faces forward and put the baby carrier in the attic:( This was a sad moment for me because I know Kyle is my last baby. There is just something about the carrier that makes you feel like they are still babies. That afternoon I took the boys out to my mom and dads to play in the mud from all the rain. It was a riot!!!!!

HaPpY BiRthDaY KyLe!!!!!

Our sweet baby Kyle turned one yesterday! I can not believe it has been a year since we brought this precious little boy into the world. Who knew what we were missing in our family. Kyle has brought sunshine to our home and family. He is such a sweet, cuddly little angel. His dark brown eyes and huge smile radiate the room when he looks at you. It is so amazing how you find a whole new kind of love when your second child is born. I love him just as much, but differently than Conner. He is his own little star in our family. The morning of his birthday I went into his room to pick him up and instead of singing "you are my sunshine," I sang, "happy Birthday." He smiled so big and swede back and forth in my arms as if he was dancing. Here are five things I love about Kyle.
1. His loving spirit. Kyle loves everyone. He is so patient with his brother and loves him so much. He looks at everyone as if he has known them forever and smiles so big.
2. His beautiful brown hair with soft curls in the back.
3. He wants everyone to be happy all the time. Kyle wants everyone around him to be happy. When his brother is in time out he even goes over to make sure Conner is okay and stands right by him until he gets out. His heart is so compassionate.
4. He loves to play, play, play! He is not one to watch T.V. or sit for any period of time. He wanders around all day quietly finding things to play with and is so inquisitive about it all. He can sit and figure out how to put something into something else forever and never get bored or give up. He is going to be our little engineer.
5. The last thing I love about Kyle is he is a snuggler. He loves to be held and cuddled. The more kisses the better. Kyle is a very affectionate boy. Some say "mamas boy," but he is just a plain lovers boy.
For his birthday we had a pumpkin party and all his friends dressed up. He loved it!
Happy Birthday Kyle we love you soooo much.

All the little boys

This past week the boys and I, Cami and my mom took a trip to Conroe. Conroe is one of my boys favorite places to go because Mason lives there, you know. We were also going so we could spend the day with my Pappy.
We left Tuesday at 1. I figured that would be the perfect time because the boys could nap on the way. Well, Kyle slept, but Conner was too excited. When we got to Laure's house my Pappy was there. My Uncle dropped him off for a visit with us. Conner and Kyle gave Pappy hugs and Kisses and then were off to play. Kyle however loved Pappy and they spent some real quality time together. He even tried to climb in the car with him when it was time for him to go home. Pappy loved it and said it made his year. We really enjoyed our visit.
The next day Conner had his happy visit at the dentist. He is going to go to a pediatric office in Conroe. I was nervous about how he would do since he does'nt even like me to brush his teeth. He amazed me however and was wonderful. He is growing up so much and it really shows. It did help though that they had a dino with real teeth that he could brush himself. Oh, and he got a balloon!
Later that day we all drove home. It POURED down rain the entire way. Conner kept looking out the window saying, "Its Dark, T rex coming." " Drive faster mommy." He is so funny.

Funny Things

It has been awhile since I have blogged. So many cute and funny things have happened.
The boys are starting to really enjoy each others company, which is heartwarming to me since I was questioning if this would ever happen.
The other day I laid Kyle down for his midmorning nap, about ten minutes passed and Conner looked around noticing that Kyle was not in sight. He then asked me, "Where’d Kyle go?" I told him that Kyle had laid down for a nap. He started to cry saying, " NOO Peanut, Peanuttttt. I need my Peanut." I reassured him that Kyle would be up in awhile and smiled inside.
Kyle is really coming into his own. He is a much softer spoken child which is such a contrast to Conner that it has taken a little longer to learn all about him. He loves to be cuddled and held all day. He adores his brother and daddy. The other day we were outside at B's house and Kyle walked over to Conner and tried to hug and kiss him out of the blue. Of course it was more like a wet lick than anything, but Conner laughed and returned the kiss. He tries to do everything his big brother
does.
One more quick story is as some of you know Conner lives and breathes dinosaurs. About a month ago the costume express catalog came in and I was flipping through. There was a page totally devoted to Dinos. I showed Conner and asked him which one did the want to dress up as for Kyle’s party and Halloween. He pointed to the T Rex. I really like to Triceratops and tried to steer him towards it. I thought the t rex was so common. He kept telling me however he wanted to be a T Rex and would walk around roaring like one. Well, I ordered the triceratops anyway thinking that I dino costume is a dino costume and he will be excited anyway. Two weeks went by and the costume arrived. I told Conner to come here his Dino costume was in. He was soooo excited jumping up and down and roaring. I opened the box and began to unravel the triceratops. He took one look at it and big tears rolled down his face. He said, "No mommy, T Rex, T rex." He would even put it on. He cried and kept saying, "I be T Rex." I felt terrible. Even though I didn’t want him to think he can cry and get what he wants I returned the costume and ordered the T REx. I mean, he DID tell me all along he wanted to be a T REX!!!!

Ike Took a Hike! Boy, were we glad. The weekend was crazy and boring all in one.
We all rode out the storm at our house. That night Kris and I wanted to stay up until the storm came though so we figured, "what the heck we will get Conner to stay up with us." Kris gave Conner M&Ms, Coke, and other sugary things to HELP him stay up. (Conner NEVER gets sugar) Well, he dosent really need help in that department and he went wackoooooo!
He was playing ring a round the rosie with himself and bouncing off the walls. Kris and I have made a pack to not give him caffine or sugar again. He finally layed down with us on our "storm pallett" and fell asleep around 12:30am. Kyle didnt last long for our storm party, he crashed at 9.
It was fun. If you can even call a hurricane fun.
Here are a few picture of the boys wearing their storm party hats and then playing at Aunt Cindy's house.

Conner and Kyle's New Beauty Regiment

This morning I thought I had the boys occupied while I got dressed watching Tom and Jerry. Only a few minutes later Conner moseyed around the corner and was glossy from head to toe. I said, " What in the world is all that." After closer investigation and a glance to Conner's hands I realized what had happened. He had a bottle of Vaseline on one hand and a bottle of Vick's stuck on the other hand. He was COVERED from head to toe. Conner was basking in his beauty rubbing it all around. I didn't even know where to begin to clean him when Kyle crawled around the corner and had obviously had a facial given to him by his loving brother. Kyle too was covered from head to toe in jelly.
I asked Conner what happened and he said, "Yes, I did."
Ha! What a day.

Conner turned TWO!

This has been a great weekend. Our baby boy turned two. The past two years have flown by and we have had a lot going on. Conner got a new baby brother, started talking in sentences and has become his own little person. Kris and I watched the video from his first birthday party last night and we couldn't believe how much he has grown. He was only a baby.
We had Conner's second birthday at Jumpin Jacks in Needville. He is totally into Dinosaurs and so we had a dino party. All of his friends and family were there. His cousin Mason came down and his Nana and Papa came too! He enjoyed the ball pit the most. He and his daddy threw balls at one another and laughed so hard. Conner was alittle unsure of the 22ft slide though, but all of his friends went down over and over.
He was so cute while we sang Happy Birthday and acted embarrassed. He got so many cool toys from his friends and family and has really had a ball playing with them. He loves the Dino stuff, tractors, bulldozer and new movies! Oh, what fun.
It was truly a special day!

Time FLIES

Well,
I cried my eyes out last night after laying Conner down for the night. You see, I laid him down in his big bed for the First time. I just knew he was going to need me and I was going to have to lay with him until he fell asleep, but oh was I wrong. After laying him down I tucked him in, gave him his Build a Bear Dino and told him, "Night Night." I just knew he was going to say, " Momma, night night." However, he rolled over and said, " Night."
His crib caught my eye as I left the room and closed the door. I couldn't believe it, he was no longer going to be in his crib. I went into the living room and Kris asked me what in the world was wrong. After telling him he comforted me and then said, "Well, at least he is still in diapers."
I can't believe how fast two years has gone. It makes me want to stay home and stare at my boys all day.

Our site

I have created this website to record all the memories that our make. I also wanted to be able to share our day to day lives with our family and friends. I got the idea from Michelle King, who I admire and love.
